Oh Nimrod!

Nimrod the Mighty Hunter is feeling better. And as a result I am feeling absolutely shattered. I was worken out of a deep sleep at 2.30 in the morning by him bellowing outside the bedroom door. His Mightiness had caught a bird and laid it, like an offering, outside the door. He clearly wanted my approbation. SIGH.

Obviously the antibiotics are working. Only two more days to go.

You really have a nice touch with Nimrod to have been able to complete his full course of antibiotics. Good show!

I wish you had been my neighbor when we had to give Edward Scissorhands antibiotics for more than a month. I was able to pill, groom, and clip the claws on my first cat, Jamar, but Ed battles everything we do. I have to take him to the vet to be wormed. When he developed toxoplasmosis, we had to medicate him every other day. We tried pills, we tried ear wax, and we finally resorted to squirting liquid down his throat. We were ALL relieved when we got to the end of the medication!

I'm glad to hear that Nimrod is recouperating from his infection. Still....I might have a little word with him about waiting to share his "surprises" later in the morning.

Buffy,

Many years ago I was taught how to get a pill fown the throat of a reluctant cat and this usually works. However, there is always the cat that is the exception. I suspect that Nimrod's sister Pickle would also be such an exception, given the fight I have whenever I try to put a bit of fles expellant on her coat. Fortunatelly up to now I haven't had to put a pill down he throat. I sincerely hope I never have to. The best way to describe he when she gets in a bad temper is "whirling dervish"!

Sorry, for some reason my spelling seems to have gone haywire! what I meant to say was:

I am, incidentally, talking of a cat that bits you if you stop stroking her.

Ed is like Pickle, I think. When HE is done being loved up, you may be excused. One stroke more, or one stroke less, and you're likely to be swatted as he "directs" you.

We were petting him last night, and he sounded like a motorboat. This from a cat who has withheld purrs from us for the past 12 years!

I know the technique for pilling a cat, and have done it with others, but Ed is the Whirling Dervish you describe. Since he has a full set of claws, we let the techie at the vet's do the dirty deed.

Buffy,

Getting the vet to give the cat a pill would work if it is an occasional pill but when faced with a situation of giving the cat a pill once or twice a day for a week or so it can get a bit difficult. That's when one develops one's own battle scars LOL.
